Medici from Mugello

The Mugello area (Cafaggioli) in Tuscany is said to be the place where the very powerful Medici family originated from, with documentation dating back from the 13th century. The Medici’s ruled Florence during the time of the Renaissance and held a variety of properties and Villas as a testament to their love for this area. A few noteworthy buildings owned by the most powerful family in Florence include the Castle of Trebbio (a favorite of Lorenzo de’ Medici) and the Villa Cafaggiolo along with a few more.

In these ancient times until even now, this area has always been considered a wealthy, fertile ground worthy of investment and cultivation. Close to Florence, yet nestled in the countryside made it a perfect refuge from everyday life, which still holds true today.

Want to learn more about the Medici family? You will happy to know that until November 3rd, the Uffizi gallery is hosting a special exhibit to mark the 300th anniversary of the death of the Grand Prince Ferdinando de’ Medici. According to the official site for the Uffizi.
